How and why do you use them?
I use them because of entertainment purposes and to socialise. I read newspapers and magazines to both find out news and information

• I bought a foundation 'Maybelline Dream Nude Airform' because of the way it was presented on a television advert.
• I bought a Blackberry smartphone because it made it easier to communicate with friends.
• I bought a Nintendo DS because of the adverts of it which made it seem like a good investment with plenty of things to do on it.

As to my personal opinion of mass audience theories, I don't believe that it affects everyone. For example, a younger child might be more influenced by a certain advertisement, like toy as it promotes something they might not have, however as they get older they will realise that it could just be a materialistic accessory they don't particularly need. However an adult might know this, and not buy the child a product, as they know it'll only be played with briefly then thrown away.
