Fast Five

In the opening 5 minutes of Fast Five you can tell the film is not going to be suitable for young children, as there is a court, and a man named Dom Toretto being sentenced to life imprisonment. He, and his other inmates are then taken to a bus, in which they will be travelling to the prison, on an empty highway. The music in the scenes background is eerie and unwelcoming, troublesome if you will. As they start travelling through the highway, you hear the sounds of birds chirping and the motor of the engine. Then suddenly you hear a roar of racing engines and the music becomes a chorus of drums beating fast. The scene goes from calm to exciting in a matter of seconds and the cars surround the bus and after a few tense moments the car is turned over. The title is then shown 'FAST FIVE' in blue/silver, like a car's paintwork, then dissapears in a sea of television waves and it transforms to a news channel report. It switches between different voices, as if the channels are changing. Then they actually show the channels and the 'wanted' reports, still switching between different channels, until finally shows the last channel, before switching off altogether.

Next the scene changed to Rio de Janeiro with Hispanic music playing in the background. It is a helicopter view. Then it changes to the main characters driving through the streets to a run down street. The showing of time changing is obvious because the screen blanks for less then a second and each time the characters are doing something different such as yawning, or looking out the window. As they arrive they come out and the atmosphere changes you can tell this is a dangerous place as there is a man with a gun speaking with a walkie talkie. As they climb the stairs they become surrounded by men with guns as they turn to leave a distant voice shouts in portugese 'she's with me leave them alone' then the camera focuses onto a man, and the characters seem like they know who he is. By this time the music has stopped and is focusing on the speech.

The genre of the film is thriller, action and crime. It's target audience as a 12a is most suited to those that can handle the trill side, and like action movies, not that suited to young children or OAPs, firstly as they might get too scared of the goings on, but the loud noises may not be that exciting to them as it is for most males aged 13-19.
