Narrative: Battle for Haditha

To analyse Battle for Haditha was more complex because there was no obvious protagonist or antagonist, but you know that there is a sense of violence, either way. The scenes are 4 men, who are marines, talking about their feelings towards Iraq and the war. There is then a blank screen with information on it, which shows that the movie is in a non linear pattern, and is a multi-strand narrative.

The enigma codes where the information given by each soldier, comparing the life as a marine as that of deer hunting and how there are 60 year old women with AK47's.

After seeing the information given on the screen, we know that this is important part of the story, as the film is based around the events of the 19th of November. The 4 speakers are seen as a main role together, in my opinion because they are the only characters seen in the first few minutes.

The beginning is medium close up shots of each character, the sound piano/organ music, you hear daily sounds, like birds chirping, this is throughout the whole 4 scenes, then a traditional sort of Arabian music plays to show the information.

The equilibrium is the speaking, for nothing bad is happening, it's a sense of calm before the storm, however this becomes disequilibrium as the information is shown, because you can see from the writing that the story that is going to be portrayed is not a good one.
